# Drone RAMS Example (Risk Assessment & Method Statement)

A completed risk assessment and method statement for a drone job on a managed site, free and in full: hazards, control measures and sequence of works.

Days before you go anywhere near the site, to the main contractor's site manager or health and safety lead, alongside your insurance and credentials. It is read as an admission document: turn up with it on the day, or hand over a generic hazard list, and you will be refused access. Name the actual site, the actual date and how you will handle overflight of occupied areas. RAMS is the UK and Irish term; elsewhere it is simply a written risk assessment and method statement.

### 1. Scope of the activity

A single unmanned aircraft will fly a pre-planned photographic pattern over the whole site at 80 m above ground level, taking approximately 45 minutes. One remote pilot and one marshal attend. No flight over occupied areas of the site is planned.

### 4. Method statement

1. On arrival. Report to D. Kolev at the site office. Site induction already held 2 March 2026. Confirm no conflicting works in Zones A to C.
2. Set-up. Establish the take-off point in the north compound. Position two cones and the warning sign. Brief the marshal on the stop signal.
3. Pre-flight. Confirm airspace status and check for NOTAMs. Check weather against the limits in section 5. Inspect aircraft, propellers and batteries. Confirm firmware, storage and a 120 m return-to-home height.
4. Flight. Maintain visual line of sight throughout. Fly the planned grid at 80 m, then three oblique orbits. Maintain the stand-offs in section 3. Monitor battery and signal continuously.
5. Interruption. Cease the pattern, hold or land, and do not resume until the condition clears. Triggers: any person entering the area, any aircraft in the vicinity, any weather exceedance.
6. Post-flight. Land, power down, confirm imagery captured, remove all equipment and signage. Report completion to D. Kolev.
